The Institute for Information technology, better known as IIT, is the leader in IT related training and facilitation in the country.

Our History
Since its inception in 1990 under the name Microtek Computers Ltd, later changed to IIT in 1992 to better reflect its training activities in information technology, IIT has become a major force in the IT industry in Tanzania providing complete learning solutions through internationally recognized certifications and accreditations. IIT was the first institution in Tanzania to adopt the NCC International Degree Pathway leading to a graduate degree from London Guildhall University, now London Metropolitan University. Through these international accreditations, IIT has always been at the forefront in introducing new and improved learning solutions to Tanzania.

Our Present
To date, IIT has seen through over 9000 students in its 15 years of operation. Today’s IIT stands out as a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions (MCPLS), an accredited centre for the National Computing Centre, NCC-UK, an authorized online testing centre for Pearson Virtual University Enterprise (Pearson VUE), an accredited centre for Pitman- City & Guilds Qualifications.

With introduction of new learning solutions such as Microsoft Certifications under the brand new Windows 2003 Track, an International Diploma in Business leading to a degree from Huddersfield University and many more such courses, IIT continues to be at the forefront of IT education provision within the country.

Our Future
IIT is fully committed to providing and more over continuing to provide complete training solutions to the market. Staying ahead of the rest, IIT launched in March 2005, for the first time in Tanzania, a Masters Degree Programme, M.Sc, from Portsmouth University.

IIT is also investing in a brand new training centre located at the renowned J.M Mall Building right in the heart of the city centre.

Also introduced is a brand new pathway leading to a degree in the field of business, starting with an International Diploma in Business followed by an International Advanced Diploma in Business, and finally a Bachelors Degree from Huddersfield University.

Our Accreditation
To date, IIT has acquired, through strict quality control and proper management and deliberation, internationally renowned accreditations. Namely, IIT is a Microsoft Certified Partner-Learning Solutions, IIT is also a National Computing Centre- UK (NCC) Accredited Centre, an authorized Testing Centre for Pearson Virtual University Enterprise (VUE), a registered centre to run City & Pitman Qualifications, an Accredited Centre to run the International Computer Driving License (ICDL), a registered centre to run online examinations with ATS South Africa and Electric Paper South Africa.

Our Facilities
All of IIT’s short courses and Microsoft Certifications, A+, ICDL and many more, are run at the organization’s head office located at Samora Avenue, 1st Floor Kelvin House. The facility is state of the art with over 50 stand alone computers and a network server.

IIT, furthering its commitment to providing training solutions, has established a brand new training facility in the heart of the city centre, at J.M Mall. The new facility hosts a range of services never offered before. The new centre houses over 60 pc’s, 2 network servers and a range of network services to students never offered before by any local institute such as dedicated server storage for all students, a complete intranet website hosting a complete student resource centre and many more such innovative facilities.

The diploma, advanced diploma and degree programmes, formerly run at the organization’s training centre at Bibi Titi Mohamed Street, are now conducted at the above mentioned training centre located at the 2nd Floor of JM Mall Building along Samora Avenue.

Not only does IIT offer quality education and empower the student with knowledge essential in today’s IT world, but also helps them seek out relevant jobs in the IT sector through an affiliated programme with a renowned Employment Agency.

IIT has recently also launched a student internship program which again empowers the students with essential working knowledge of their IT and business fields by letting them work for the organization for a specified period as interns to various departments within IIT.
